Solo - Blake's Battle with Brain Cancer - Full Video

A brief history...

The year leading up to Blake's 2nd birthday we noticed little things that seemed odd; drooling a lot, falling down, not putting words together. Nothing would have ever prepared me for the answer we got on June 24, 2009. "Your son has a very large brain tumor.He needs surgery tomorrow first thing, or he could die." We were admitted and on June 25 Blake had brain surgery. Our neurosurgeon removed as much as he could, but due to location was only able to remove a portion. Blake is one incredible little boy-he came through surgery like a champ! One of the first things our neurosurgeon said after surgery was "I gave him a cool scar". 2 weeks in the hospital and we were sent home. We were scheduled for an MRI every 3 months. In December 2009 we learned his tumor was growing. So Blake started chemo in February. Again in May his tumor was still growing. Completely devestated, we sought out a 2nd opinion. MD Anderson is where we headed. After a 12 hour drive we were in Houston, TX. We met with the neuro-oncologist there, Dr. Wolffe, who was AMAZING!! We stayed a week and the tumor board agreed that Blake was the perfect canidate for Proton Therapy-a form of radiation. After a 2 month stay in Houston, Blake completed his radiation. His first MRI after that already showed his tumor had shrunk. MRI's continued every 3 months after that. Today Blake's tumor has shrunk quite a bit, and is in 'STABLE' condition. I pray that his tumor stays this way-FOREVER! Blake has been going to rehabilitation therapy for the last 2 years. He is almost 4 now. He still receives occupational, physical and speech therapies. He is doing great! He is our little super-hero. I am so proud of him and his fight against cancer!!
